Earliest known images of apostles discovered with latest technological advances

The catacombs of Rome which had heretofore been a treasure trove of art and architecture continue to impress with the most recent discovery of archaeologists.  Within a room that was known to the scientific community but before had not been considered of any particularly special merit.

However, by using a modern laser cleaning technologies the archaeologists were able to remove calcium deposits that had been covering the paintings and so expose them to the world while still preserving the beautiful colors of the paintings.

These paintings are some of the earliest if not the very earliest images discovered of the apostles and archaeologists believe they may have set the standard for which other early Christian painting were made.
